Frequently Asked Questions
Who actually does the work?▸
Deck Defenders is a division of Kenney Construction — the same licensed, insured, and bonded company (VA DPOR #2705187519) handles the work, not a subcontracted third party.
What areas do you serve?▸
Herndon, Reston, Great Falls, McLean, Vienna, Ashburn, Sterling, Aldie, Oakton, Chantilly, Centreville, and South Riding, Virginia.
What are your hours?▸
Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM.
Do you provide written estimates?▸
Yes — every project gets a written scope so you know what's included before work starts.
How do I know if my deck needs to be repaired or fully rebuilt?▸
It depends on the condition of the structure underneath, not just the surface. We start with a structural inspection — if the framing is sound, board replacement and resurfacing may be enough. If the structure itself is failing, a rebuild is the safer call.
Should I choose wood or composite decking?▸
Wood costs less upfront but needs more regular maintenance — staining and sealing. Composite costs more upfront but requires little maintenance and holds its color longer. Which makes sense depends on your budget and how much upkeep you want to do.
Can you add a screened-in porch to an existing deck or patio?▸
Yes — a screened enclosure can often be added to your home's existing outdoor space, coordinating framing and roofing with what's already there.
How do I request a deck estimate?▸
Call (703) 731-9208 or submit the online estimate form and we'll follow up to schedule a time.
